Keep Phoenix Beautiful and Hensley Beverage Company employees and family members restored trails and the Monarch Habitat at the Nina Mason Pulliam Audubon Wetlands along the Rio Salado Trail.  More than 70 Desert Milkweed and Baja Fairy Dusters were planted to attract the butterflies.  At one time, the garden had been an area for the Monarch butterflies on their migration to Mexico.  Volunteers also installed 160 feet of split rail fencing along trails to protect native plants surrounding the wetlands.

Anheuser-Busch has provided grant funds totaling $95,000 for volunteer initiatives ranging from river cleanups to invasive species removal to riparian restoration planting to river bank stabilization and stream buffers, all designed to improve the health and vitality of local watersheds. The projects engaged volunteers from Keep America Beautiful community-based affiliates and partnering organizations working with the input and participation from local Anheuser-Busch wholesalers.

“Hensley Beverage Company takes environmental sustainability seriously, especially in beautiful Arizona. We were proud to have worked so closely with local Keep Phoenix Beautiful to make sure the watersheds in our community are as clean and healthy as they can be,” said Douglas Yonko, Hensley’s VP Communications. “And, of course, our organization is doubly pleased to have assisted in those efforts with the aid of a 2018 Keep America Beautiful/Anheuser-Busch Watershed Grant.”
