PHOENIX, ARIZONA, October 17, 2016– Hensley Beverage Company, widely recognized as Arizona’s leading beverage distributor, announced today the state wide distribution agreement with Modern Times Beer, an award winning and globally recognized San Diego, California craft brewery. Hensley will have Modern Times brands available for sale to licensed Arizona retail locations beginning the week of November 14th, 2016. Look for a series of state wide launch parties to kick off Modern Times’ launch in Arizona beginning the week of November 7th, 2016.

Based in San Diego, Modern Times focuses (non-monogamously) on aroma-driven, complex, flavorful, sessionish beers. Modern Times often brews hybrid styles, combining the features from established categories to create new, Island-Of-Doctor-Moreau-style mash-ups. Founded in 2013, Modern Times was named a “Top 10 New Brewery in the World” in 2013 by RateBeer, and was recently named the “Best San Diego Brewery” by the West Coaster in 2015.

“Many craft loving Arizonans have been able to enjoy Modern Times at either one of their two San Diego tasting rooms,” said Scott Kirkpatrick, Director of Brand Management at Hensley Beverage Company. “We couldn’t be more excited about partnering with them as they expand into Arizona. We love everything about Modern Times, their people, their culture, their branding, and above all their liquid. These guys have been creating some of the very best beer out there, and we’re looking forward to introducing them to a larger audience here in Arizona. We are working on a really special week of launch events so that Arizona consumers can come out and experience these amazing brands themselves.”

Hensley Beverage Company and Modern Times are planning a series of state wide launch parties the week of November 7th, 2016. More information on specifics will be forthcoming.

Modern Times year round and select seasonal and specialty beers will be available from Hensley Beverage Company throughout Arizona beginning the week of November 14th, 2016.

Modern Times Year Round Selections

FOURTUNATE ISLANDS HOPPY WHEAT | 46 IBUs | 5.0% ABV

fourtunate-islands

Fortunate Islands Hoppy Tropical Wheat combines the mildly nutty malt body of a wheat beer with the intensely bright, citrusy hoppiness of a righteous IPA. Fortunate Islands shares the characteristics of an uber-hoppy IPA and an easy drinking wheat beer. A massive dose of Citra and Amarillo hops gives it a blastwave of tropical hop aromatics: mango, tangerine, and passionfruit all leap out of the glass. Brewed with 60% wheat malt, Fortunate Islands also has the mild, nutty malt backbone, reasonable ABV, and restrained bitterness to make it an outstanding session beer.

BLACK HOUSE ROASTY STOUT | 40 IBUs | 5.8% ABV

black-house

Black House Coffee Roasty Stout has the full-body, robust chocolatey flavor, and intense coffee aroma of its imperial counterparts, but packed into a 5.8% ABV package. Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast thier own coffee, which allows them to be exceptionally picky about which coffees are used and how they roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer that’s incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. Black House is also available on Nitro.

BLAZING WORLD HOPPY DANK | 85 IBUs | 6.8% ABV

blazing-world

Blazing World Hoppy Dank Amber combines the subtly fruity qualities of a dry amber ale with the enormous hop-profile of an über-dank double IPA. Blazing World is a luxuriously hoppy amber loaded up with intemperate quantities of Nelson, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, which are some of the fruitiest, dankest hops sweet, sweet money can buy. Despite its amber hue, Blazing World is pleasingly dry, sporting a lightly bready malt backbone that serves as platform for the huge & complex hop profile.

LOMALAND RUSTIC SAISON | 30 IBUs | 5.5% ABV

lomaland

Lomaland Bright Rustic Saison, Modern Times’ flagship saison, isn’t so much a hybrid, as a return to origin—a quenching, sessionable, farmhouse libation. Sporting a mixed grain bill and fermented with a blend of Belgian yeast strains, Lomaland offers the complexity and nuance of the most traditional examples of the style.
