Cristom was founded in 1992 by Paul Gerrie, a petroleum engineer; Steve Doerner, a biochemist; and Mark Feltz, a modern farmer. All three of these talented gentlemen are still at Cristom today as we head into their 24th harvest. Steve Doerner is one of the most respected winemakers on the west coast, and he’s one of the greatest proponents of whole-cluster and native yeast fermentations. Cristom believes that great wines are made in the vineyards and strives to produce wines that are expressive of their site and structured to develop in the bottle, with a minimum of intervention by the winemaking process. In many ways, these are old world wines made in the new world.
