Maynard and our team broke ground for our first Northern Arizona vines, Merkin West (Judith’s Vineyard) in 2002. The successes have outweighed the failures, giving us the hope and encouragement we’ve needed to move forward and weather this steep and ominous learning curve. We still have much to learn about these sites and micro-climates, but suffice to say, we are clearly on to something here. Mount Etna meets Ribera del Duero meets Adelaide Hills. We are mostly focusing on Italian and Spanish grapes but of course can’t resist the urge to try our hand at Bordeaux and Southern Rhone varietals.
